Business booming post Decorex...

Since Decorex 2009 closed it’s doors for the 32nd year, exhibitors have been analysing the success of this year’s show and chasing up the contacts they made. We look at a couple of this year’s success stories…
Architectural Textiles had their best show ever. Tony McNamara commented, “Decorex always attracts the highest quality of visitors but at the 2009 show there were more visitors to our stand that were working on serious interior projects than before. In fact we have already had orders that will pay for this years and next year’s show – within one month of Decorex.”
They introduced three new ranges at Decorex - Sateen Club, Rock Star and Reeds. Sateen Club a range of fabric laid yarns with the look and feel of Satin for the walls proved a real winner, with a number of orders placed since the show.
Harlequin Tabletop also had a fantastic show. Managing Director, Jamie Horton, commented, “ Harlequin had a fabulous time and as well as meeting old friends and customers, we made and met many more. We have been inundated since the show finished and so are delighted with the results so far.”
Harlequin Tabletop had a smaller stand opposite their main one which featured the ‘big ticket’ items with products priced into the thousands of pounds. Jamie said, “Clients seem keen to buy into real quality and are prepared to pay a fair and realistic price, for well designed and well made products.
Their new website has seen a huge uplift in enquiries as a result of the show which allows designers to create and send moodboards to their customers.
“We believe it was the busiest show we have been to in Europe in the last two years and indeed the first where there was an obvious buzz and feeling of optimism among exhibitors and visitors alike – let us hope things are changing!”

LED’s – know the facts!
As LED’s become an unavoidable part of interior design, it is important for everyone involved to know the facts. Technology is moving quickly, and one event, taking place next February, will provide the most up-to-date overview from some of the industry’s most knowledge LED experts.
The ARC Show, a high-impact exhibition featuring over 100 top lighting brands, will include an acclaimed conference run by the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD).
The conference will pass onto delegates the latest developments in lighting design, with special emphasis on the impact of LED’s. Day two of the conference will include a ‘Super Panel’ of LED experts discussing the latest developments and what the future holds. This topic will run throughout the afternoon of the 3rd February, providing delegates with an exclusive insight into LED’s from some of the industry’s leading experts.
LED technology is advancing at a rapid pace, the phasing out of iridescent light bulbs is further encouraging their development.
The industry is only too aware that LED’s are indeed expensive to buy, but they far exceed the life of any other light source. They enable the lighting designer to focus the light on a specific area, whilst also selecting the perfect colour of light for the mood of the space.
The ‘Super Panel’ at this year’s ARC Show, will include LED Governmental advisor Geoff Archenhold and Paul Hatherall of OSRAM Opto Semiconductors.
Other confirmed speakers for this seminal two day conference include Kaoru Mende of Lighting Planners Associates Inc and Charles Stone of Fisher Marantz Stone, Inc.
The IALD conference will run from 3-4 February, alongside The ARC Show 2010, taking place at Earls Court Two.
