Gorenje has responded to the new agreement between the major multiple electrical retailers and the Office of Fair Trading (OFT), regarding the sale of extended warranties for electrical goods.
The OFT has been investigating extended warranties since April 2011, due to fears about value for money. The OFT has recently announced a new pledge, agreed to by some of the major multiple electrical retailers, which promises to improve the way extended warranties are sold.
This will include a price comparison website for warranties, while the retailers will use mystery shoppers to check that consumers are given the correct information.
Bill Miller, Gorenje’s Sales and Marketing Director, comments: “In the difficult financial climate, getting good value for money when buying a new appliance is crucial. Gorenje offers a market-leading free five year parts and labour guarantee on many of its appliances, providing any required support without the need to purchase an extended warranty.
"It is well worth the retailer highlighting product guarantees at the point of sale, as they give real peace of mind for the consumer, alongside reassurance that a brand is trustworthy and reliable.”
Gorenje’s free five year parts and labour warranties are featured as standard on all of its built-in single and double ovens, hobs, hoods and built-in cooling plus selected freestanding products. All other appliances are automatically covered by a free two year parts and labour guarantee.
