5 Key KBB Trends You Can Expect to See in 2022

06/01/2022

As Europe’s largest dedicated kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms exhibition, we like to keep our finger on the pulse of the industry and to keep abreast of the latest trends to appear within the industry. Providing a rich showcase of KBB brands helps us to keep track of what new materials are being harnessed, the latest styles that are being produced and how changing customer requirements are shaping the product output of this sphere.

“Over the last couple of years, our needs and requirements for the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom space have changed. Consumers are looking for good design and style but also practicality and sustainability. Our exhibitors will be showcasing their own take on these trends and we look forward to seeing what they have in store for attendees in 2022,” comments Andy Bishop, Creative Director, kbb Birmingham.

And so, we have devised a list of trends that you should expect to see across the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom industry in 2022 – see these trends being showcased in person at our event taking place from 6-9 March.

1.       Smart & Touchless Solutions

At kbb 2022, a range of exhibitors will showcase their unique touchless solutions. Nottinghamshire appliance manufacturer CDA will be exhibiting its touch-free, gesture-controlled kitchen extraction while bathroom manufacturer Roca will be revealing a number of touchless brassware options as well as new touchless flush plates.

2.       Sustainability

Another priority for consumers is sustainability, ensuring the products they buy have a reduced impact on the planet and are fit for the future. At kbb Birmingham, German kitchen manufacturer, Rotpunkt Küchen will be focusing on the importance of utilising recycled materials and renewable wood alternatives for its furniture. The Used Kitchen Company will be back as the show’s sustainability partner encouraging exhibitors to think about their environmental impact by helping exhibitors to sell off their displays and find new homes for all the kitchens on show. Many of the exhibitors are also utilising sustainable materials and concepts for their stands including Roca and Häfele.

3.       Bringing Outdoors Indoors

Being able to get outdoors and take advantage of its benefits has never been more important, this is being reflected in the next trend – bringing the outdoors indoors. Rotpunkt Küchen is introducing ranges that are inspired by nature and feature botanical greens and greys combined with raw timber finishes to embrace indoor outdoor living. Nest Kitchens will be exhibiting a range of products including the Atlas Plan Boost tiles, which allow homeowners to continue their interiors into the garden with the same design.

4.       Black Kitchens

The colour black is being used increasingly to create impact and contrast in the kitchen space. Black furniture, brassware, sinks and surfaces will all be making an appearance at kbb Birmingham 2022. For instance, Dansani will be unveiling its stunning new black sink, while Abode and Blanco are presenting matt black kitchen taps. Bauformat will showcase both its Bauformat and Burger brands with Burger launching its anti-fingerprint Jette furniture range in a black silky matt finish. The Forest Magnolia from kbb Birmingham tiles exhibitor, Quartzforms, has a uniform black/green background, with a fine grain, long and diffused white veins.

5.       Interesting Shapes & Tiles

Consumers are experimenting with different shapes, especially when it comes to tiles. Hexagonal shapes are proving extremely popular, and Verona will be at kbb Birmingham displaying its Sunburst tile range which comes in different designs in this interesting shape.
