It’s that time of year when the key kbb trends, innovations, designs and ideas are cemented for 2016; ahead of the kbb Birmingham show, we’ve highlighted industry opinions and the key trends…
The show theme of future is perfect fitting for the 2016 metallic accents trend. Applicable across all sectors of kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms and appliances, we will not only see the return of classic metals such as brass and copper, but an infusion of grey, white and black tones will incorporate a futuristic twist to the classic materials. Graham Jones, Sales and Marketing Director at Trend Interiors and Mereway, exhibitors at kbb Birmingham, believes this to be the emergence of ‘fusion’ and says “design that blends elements of traditional and contemporary design features will create new looks that are individual in 2016”.

Graham also predicts that “consumers will move away from what has been considered ‘the norm’ and will experiment with bolder colours, textures and finishes”; alternative key themes are minimalist luxury, nature-inspired décor and bold, geometric designs.
Some key kitchen and bathroom component trends are: Trough sinks, open shelving, square shaped fixtures, smart storage solutions, accessible showers, air pressure shower heads to save water and multi jet taps to offer a similar effect as a monsoon shower. Looking at the broader kbb industry, Andrew Davies, Managing Editor of kbbreview predicts “The main trend that will continue to grow in 2016 is the increasing relationship between suppliers and their premium retailers - particularly for the big brands. Suppliers can get more out of working closely with less retailers and so competition for those retailers will continue increasing.”
